QUESTIONS
Design Catalog FAQs
Common questions about pricing, customization, and how to use the catalog.
Are these designs included in the price of the monument, or extra?
Basic sandblast designs are generally included in the monument's standard design and lettering work. Typically that means one or two corner designs per monument. Larger artwork, hand-shaded pieces, or designs beyond the standard layout can add to the quote. We'll let you know up front if your selections go beyond what's included.
Can I bring my own design or photograph instead?
Yes, and many families do. A photograph, a sketch, or a description is a fine starting point. Our in-house design team adapts the idea to carve cleanly in stone and read well at the size you've chosen. The catalog is a starting point, not a limit.
Can designs be combined or modified?
Yes. Designs can be combined, mirrored, resized, or adjusted to fit the layout of the monument. We send a written proof showing the final placement before anything goes to the stone.
Will these designs work on any monument type?
Most do. Designs scale with the stone. What works on a large upright may need to be simplified for a small flat marker, and very fine detail reads better on polished surfaces than on rougher finishes. We'll flag if a chosen design isn't a good fit and suggest alternatives.
What's the difference between sandblast and etched designs?
Sandblast designs are cut into the stone with abrasive blasting, producing strong, deep lines that hold up to weather and time. Etched designs are scratched into a polished surface (usually black granite) and produce finer detail at a smaller scale, including portraits. Both are options; the right one depends on the design and the stone.
Are these the only designs you offer?
No. The catalog shows a popular subset of what we work with. We have access to a much larger library, and our in-house artist creates fully custom artwork from sketches, photos, or descriptions. If you don't see what you want, ask.
How do I save designs I'm interested in?
Click the checkmark on any tile to save it. Saved designs appear when you reach out through the contact form, so we'll have your selections in front of us when we follow up.
Bring us your idea
Bring us a sketch, photograph, or even just a description of what you're looking for. We work with families and stonemasons to create custom artwork that's never been engraved before.
